Additional assistance was provided by Galeton Fire Department and Middlebury Township Fire Department. DCNR rangers as well as park staff responded from the park within minutes of receiving the report of the incident.
Crews would access the scene by fording pine creek and carrying their equipment to the patient. Additional crews would then create a high line and attach the inflatable response craft for the patient’s extrication.
After nearly 5 hours of work the patient was transported to UPMC Wellsboro Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Crews from all agencies encountered rugged terrain and poor trail conditions. Areas of the trail were impassable with multiple responders and single file at times. Thank you to all of the volunteers and staff who assisted with this effort! |
